Cirrus Allied Staffing travelers we want you to stay healthy during the holiday season and upcoming winter months, and its up to you to make this happen. Use your head when you are thinking about things you are doing that could cause you to get sick. The winter cold does not cause sickness; you can only become sick after being exposed to someone who is contagious. Be safe and make wise decisions do not go outside with a wet head, or go walk your dog in the cold without a jacket. Staying well is mostly common sense you just need to remember to do these things. Happy Holidays!!

Attention all traveling physical therapist, occupational therapist, and speech language pathologist, here are some tips that will help Cirrus Allied Staffing find the right travel assignment for you.
One of the best ways that you can help CAS find the right travel assignment for you is to be flexible in the locations that you choose. You want to give your recruiter several different locations to search, there fore your chances of finding an assignment will greatly increase. You don’t want to limit yourself to one specific area, but you will limit your options. As a traveler, you also want to be upfront and honest about the type of assignment that you are looking for. If you absolutely refuse to do a SNF, then let your recruiter know, so we can conduct a more specific search. Lastly, you need to know where your resume has been. If you are working with more than one company, keep track of where each company has submitted your resume. This also, will help CAS conduct a more focused organized job search.
So if you need help finding the right travel assignment, contact me

Unfortunately, with the arrival of the New Year will come the arrival of new bills! Don't panic, I've got the solution to make opening up your credit card statements a little less painful.

I don't know about you Allied Health Career Travelers out there, but during the Holidays, when its cold outside, I love a cup of eggnog. It is pretty simple to pour a few quarts of eggnog and a bottle of rum into a punch bowl, but if you take the time to make eggnog from scratch and you will be amazed how great real eggnog can be. I call this concoction my Holiday Rumderful Eggnog. Here's how you make it:
Beat the yolks of 12 jumbo eggs in a large mixing bowl. While mixing, gradually add one pound of granulated sugar. Fold in a PT, OT or SLP...of course I'm kidding, I'm just checking to see if you're paying attention. Stir in one quart of whole milk. Now, the best part, stir in one Liter of Captain Morgan's Spiced Rum. Pour all of this into a large punch bowl and chill for 3-4 hours. Oh, and put the punch in the refrigerator too.
When you are ready to serve, fold in one quart of heavy cream that has been lightly whipped. Garnish the eggnog with freshly ground nutmeg. Now drink and enjoy!
To All of MDI Medical's PT, OT SLP COTA and PTA Travelers out there, enjoy the Holidays! But enjoy them responsibly. Don't drink and drive.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
And a side note: MDI Medical is changing its name to Cirrus Allied Staffing...look for it in 2009.

From Recruiter to Personal Career Agent
The very best travel and local contract rehab therapy careers are built based on an open and honest relationship with a hardworking recruiter that is willing to invest the time to find what’s best for you. In fact, the very best recruiters become much more than your recruiter – they’re your career agent, your coach, sometimes your counselor, and they almost always become a very close friend. Building this trust takes time, but there are several things a traveler can do to work toward such a relationship.
- Be honest about what’s most important: It’s important for your recruiter to know how you prioritize pay, location, and setting. If money is most important, we’ll share jobs with you that are not in the location or setting you want, if that’s where the best money is. If location is number one on your list, you’ll see jobs of various pay rates in order to get you to the spot you’re seeking.
- Share a Little, Get a Lot: The best recruiters want to know a lot about you. They know the names of your spouse or significant other, your children and even your pets. They remember your favorites and surprise you with ‘a little something’ from time to time. Send a photo – it sets you apart from other travelers and reminds us who we’re working for.
- Full Disclosure: If your recruiter submits you to a client and you’re already interviewing there with another travel company, it doesn’t help anyone. We want to know where to spend our time. That’s the only reason we ask. We’re not trying to steal your job or keep you from talking with other recruiters. The more forthcoming you are about your search, the better we can help you.
Candace,
I want to let you know that I am very impressed with your employee, Monica Schnitzer. She is always there to answer my questions in a timely and professional manner. She has excellent people skills and patience with crazy therapist like myself. She never loses her temper, or if she does, she doesn't express it to staff/clients or therapists. There have been times when I've been in an insecure situation during my traveling experience and she helps ease my worries.
Three cheers for Monica.
Sincerely,
Cynthia H, P.T.

Call MDI Medical at 866-518-1750 about these and other Occupational Therapy Assignments today!
A Physical Therapist emailed me this morning about payroll. This therapist has worked with MDI Medical for a while, usually taking physical therapy jobs in the southwest. Unfortunately, we made a mistake on her payroll a few weeks ago.
My advice: every time you start a new assignment, compare your first paystub against your confirmation. If you notice a discrepancy, call us immediately so we can correct the problem before it becomes inflated.
Most travelers' paychecks have several line items. Depending on the situation (and tax rules), they can include hourly rate, overtime rate, travel pay to the assignment, per diem for meals, housing stipend, insurance deductions, taxes, 401k, etc. Assuming an average of 8 line items per paycheck, our payroll department processes more than 125,000 payroll items on an annual basis. While we strive for perfection, it's difficult to process so many variables with zero errors. Even a 99.5% accuracy rate will still yield a few mistakes.
So be kind to our payroll staff. We hate mistakes just as much as you do. And we're trying our best to fulfill even the highest expectations.
Happy travels.
Candace

Whether you provide physical, occupational or speech therapy or provide therapists to clients, I am grateful to be in the rehab travel therapy market.
While this recession has wrecked havoc on many industries, the therapy market remains strong. The jobs are plentiful across the country unless of course, you are trying to get to San Diego California or Florida right now. We're still seeing a lot of demand in therapy positions, including home health and schools. Ask an MDI recruiter about these settings if you are interested.
With that said, keep in mind every company, including MDI isn't posting every position. So if you are looking still this season, shoot us an email or apply on our website. We'll follow up with you promptly. We'll also give you the candid picture on what's going on in the therapy market in the area you are looking.
