With spring just around the corner, many of us have been planning for our next warm weather vacation! One of the many perks of being a traveling therapist includes the option of taking a little time off between assignments. Sometimes this is to accommodate for travel time, but typically, contract therapists take advantage of this for vacation time. This is due to the fact that most facilities who have decided to bring a traveler on board for only three months, cannot afford to let them take a week off in the middle of their assignment. There are exceptions to this rule, but more times than not, this is the case.

So when mapping out your contract plans for the rest of the year, don't forget to plan ahead for that much deserved vacation time as well!

I currently have a need for a Speech Language Pathologist in McAllen,TX in a skilled nursing facility. The need here is urgent, and offers an amazing compensation package, including a sign on bonus!!

McAllen is located in southern most part of Texas, and hosts a population of 130,831 people. The weather here is great- the average minimum temperature is around 70 degrees Fahrenheit, with an average maximum of 90. The city is filled with parks and recreational activities, including bike and hiking trails. If you're a golf enthusiast, you can check out the Palm View Golf Course. It is open to the public, and is recognized as one of the premiere golf courses in the state of Texas.

The city of McAllen is located in the Lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas, which is home to the World Birding Center. This is an amazing spot for bird watching...a place where you can observe birds found in no other region of the United States! Another plus side to being in this area is the short trip to South Padre Island, TX. It is only a 75 mile trip, which makes it an ideal weekend getaway!

This year's APTA show in Vegas was amazing! Thousands of Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech Language Pathologists all showed up for the big event. Hopefully everyone who attended got the opportunity to visit most of the booths. I was there representing Cirrus Allied Staffing/MDI Medical, at the Allied Travel Careers booth. We handed out bottled water and chapstick to all who stopped by to discuss their current or future allied travel careers.

Of course, there were lots of highly motivated new grads at the show. It was great to talk to them about the industry and their plans after graduation. There is clearly a high level of talent out there getting ready to enter the allied work force- this is great news for facilities and clinics across the U.S.!

I hope everyone had a safe trip home, and please, lets keep in touch! It was a pleasure meeting all of you and I hope that I will have the opportunity to work with you throughout your allied travel career!

Take Care & Happy Friday!

Come to Seguin, TX for your next contract assignment! Often times people look for contract work in San Antonio or Austin and forget about the surrounding areas. If you absolutely love the facility you are currently working at- extending for an additional length of time is usually an option. I currently have several travelers that have completed their initial 13 week assignments in their ideal location, and are now working on their second or third extension. If you're new to the world of travel, you should know that this is an option.

We work really hard to find the perfect assignment for all of our travelers. In fact, sometimes it is such a good fit, they don't want to leave! So if you're not ready to commit to a permanent position, long term contracts and/or extensions are often a great alternative.  Let us help you find a position in the city of your choice...and don't feel like your stay there has to be limited to 13 weeks!

For a list of facilities that are currently looking for Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, or Speech Language Pathologists, please call me today!

If you have had the opportunity to interview for a position that you like in a large metro area, and an offer has been made, you probably don't have a lot of time to sit on this. Jobs in hot metro areas go quickly, and most facilities receive multiple resumes for the same opening. If a need is urgent, most Directors will go with the most qualified candidate who is willing to sign the contract first. This isn't to say that you should not take the time to do your research and make an informed decision. It just means that hot jobs close fast- they are hot because everybody wants them!

We all know how competitive the travel market is right now, even jobs in small rural areas seem to close quickly these days. If you're not familiar with the city where your dream job sits, make sure you research it before the interview. You can often find helpful information on a city's chamber of commerce website if you don't know where to start...and don't forget that we are always here to help you as well! We have had travelers in contract assignments all over the United States, and can provide you with helpful tips and advice while you look for your next city of choice!

MDI Medical, A Cirrus Allied Staffing Company, does contract and contract to perm placement for the following modalities:

Physical Therapists&Physical Therapy Assistants
Occupational Therapists&Occupational Therapy Assistants
Speech Language Pathologists

Call me today if you would like to hear about our current hot jobs!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

I thought today would be the perfect time to discuss the convenience of being on a travel assignment during the holidays. If your permanent residence is in a different city or state from your family, consider taking a travel assignment as an opportunity to spend more time with them!

Often times hospitals will begin staffing for their holiday needs in August or September. So it is important to let us know what your winter travel plans will be as far in advance as possible.

Remember that MDI Medical, A Cirrus Allied Staffing Company, does contract and contract to perm placement for the following modalities:

Physical Therapists&Assistants
Occupational Therapists&Assistants
Speech Language Pathologists

If you have any questions about our current needs, please don't hesitate to give me a call at: 866-518-1750 Ext. 2319

I recently went on a road trip throughout the Southwestern part of the United States, and was amazed by all of the gorgeous scenery that I saw. As much as I love being in the mountains, and surrounded by nature, I really am a city girl at heart. One city in particular that offers the best of both worlds is Albuquerque, NM. Here you have the luxury of great restaurants and lots of shopping, with all of natures amenities at your door step. It is sunny here 310 days per year, which makes this location ideal for someone who enjoys outdoor activities.

If your are debating a trip to the Southwest for your next physical or occupational therapy assignment- DO IT!! If you have never been to this part of the country it's something that you have to experience. Another great thing about being in Albuquerque is that you are close to many other hot destinations as well. Which means you could easily do a weekend trip to Santa Fe, or Southern,CO.

I currently have the following needs open in Albuquerque:

Physical Therapist Outpatient Setting January Start
Occupational Therapist   Inpatient Setting   January Start

For more information on the opportunities, call me today @ 866-518-1750 Ext 2319.
