Recruiting is a stressful job.

Do you ever feel unsettled when you're searching for your next assignment? Imagine feeling responsible for the careers of many Physical and Occupational Therapy travelers, and magnify that feeling tenfold.

Great recruiters are passionate about helping manage travelers' Occupational Therapy careers and Physical Therapy careers, and they are even more passionate about "their" therapists. In fact, I've overheard many a recruiter trying to make a deal with an account manager when a super hot job comes in:

"Please... don't tell anyone else about this job... just for a few hours. Let me get a hold of 'my' traveler first... "

Of course, the account managers would never restrict access to a red hot assignment, but it doesn't stop the recruiters from trying.

I digress. Back to my original point.

So, it's Friday, during a particularly stressful week. What are the recruiters doing? They're playing with a flying monkey. This favorite office toy has rubber bands in its arms so you can sling-shot it across the room, over the cubicles, to a coworker's desk. If you're really good, you can get the monkey to hit their head or land in their lap. Unofficial Mascot for MDI Medical: A flying monkey

The funny part is that it makes screeching monkey noises as it flies through the air. And we always try to send it to someone's cubicle when they're on the phone. Yeah, it's juvenile, but it's funny when they try not to laugh. And inevitably, you hear them trying to explain monkey noises to the person on the other end of the phone.

Our Recruiting Manager was busted earlier this week, though, when Autumn (you can read her blog here) said: "Yeah, Mom, that's a monkey you hear. I just got hit over the head with a stuffed flying monkey. It was my super-professional boss who threw it at me."

So, next time you're talking with your recruiter on the phone, listen carefully, and you might just hear a flying monkey in the background!

Monica
