One of our physical therapy assistants called last week. The client was holding an in-service and invited her to attend. I enthusiastically encouraged her to run, not walk, to the sign-up sheet.
Many clients expect traveling physical therapists and assistants to cover patient caseloads while their staff attends training. However, many clients offer great opportunities to increase your skills and knowledge.
By all means, take advantage of every in-service opportunity that's provided to you. Even if it means giving up your lunch hour, or trying to squeeze in a few extra minutes during the day. After all, your travel therapy jobs can improve your knowledge and skills as well as improve your resume.
