I currently have a need for an Occupational Therapist or an Occupational Therapy Assistant in North Richland Hills, TX. This is for a 13 week travel assignment in an Inpatient Rehab setting which includes neuro/general surge/ortho/complex med.

North Richland Hills is conveniently located near Ft. Worth, Irving, and Dallas! Please check out the following website for more information on this great city.....
http://www.nrhtx.com/dept_parks.aspx

If you would like to be submitted to this position, please contact me at 888-416-7949 Ext. 2388.

Yesterday, I said goodbye to two good friends.

Katie Ithier, a Credentialing Coordinator, and Tracey Warren-Wohlford, a Recruiter, said goodbye yesterday. Katie is moving to Nashville TN to be closer to her fiance. Tracey has decided to see what city life is like in Chicago.

Both were well loved by all of MDI Medical's employees: our office staff as well as our physical and occupational therapy & speech language pathology travelers.

Tracey & Katie, I wish you much success in your professional careers as well as much happiness in your personal life. I will miss you both.

MDI Medical has a strict no-tolerance policy for illegal substances. Unfortunately, I have seen more failed drug screens in the past 6 months than I have during my entire 4.5 years of working at MDI Medical.

I wonder what's up? Is it a phase: is recreational drug use on the rise? Are the drug screening tests more accurate? Or is it just that MDI Medical is employing so many new Physical and Occupational Therapy travelers that this is a numbers thing? Perhaps our percentage of failed tests is the same; it's just that our volume of new therapists and therapy assistants is higher.

Whatever the reason, if you're applying for therapy jobs with MDI Medical, please be aware that we drug screen annually, sometimes more. Many clients also drug screen during your assignment.

It's one more reason to "just say no" to drugs: if you are applying for rehabilitation jobs with MDI Medical, your livelihood depends on it.

A former Physical Therapy Assistant has been using Physical Therapists personal information to apply for jobs in North Carolina. She was hired by a competitor (who thought she was a Physical Therapist) for travel physical therapy jobs between August 4-22nd in western North Carolina. She has since surrendered her PTA license and is seeking professional help. See more info here

It's a scary proposition. But it shows why credentialing is so important. If you're applying for traveling therapy jobs at MDI Medical, keep in mind that our credentialing process is strict for good reason.

If you're a client or a hiring manager, PLEASE check photo ID and licensure when meeting any new employee. We credential our Physical Therapists well. We verify licenses, check photo IDs, and run comprehensive background checks; however, we need your help in ensuring the person who's standing in front of you is the same person who passed our credentialing checks.

Just an FYI for Occupational therapists. Your NBCOT certificate expires and has to be renewed before the expiration date stated on the certificate.  If you are a licensed therapist in one state and would like to be licensed in other states, you will need to have an updated NBCOT to get licensed.

Most states require your NBCOT to be verified as a part of the license application process.  Also, if you would like to practice in a state such as Colorado that does not require licensing, you have to have an updated NBCOT.

If you have any other questions regarding getting licensed you can call 770-416-2367 or email khamilton@mdimedical.com

Good Luck!

Hello Therapists,

Our updated pre-application is now here!  You can now open up the word attachment from our website, fill out the forms and e-mail your pre-app back to us.  Hopefully this will eliminate having to find a fax machine to fax back your application, skills checklist and consent and release form.  The sooner you get these back to us, the quicker we can process your credentialing for your start date.

Included in the pre-application package is also our updated Skills Checklist for Speech Language Pathologists, Physical Therapists, and Occupational Therapists.

As always if you have any questions or concerns please feel free to call me at 770-416-2367 or email me at khamilton@mdimedical.com

Have a great long weekend!

I have always believed that our reputation has been built on our ability to support our clients and therapists after the assignment starts.   This past week, one of MDI Medical’s long time physical therapists had some personal issues that required him to change his work schedule.  He and his wife, also a traveling physical therapist with MDI, have always done a wonderful job wherever they went.

Long story short, MDI Medical was able to work with the facility to meet their needs and also grant the request of our physical therapists by providing a unique work schedule.  Our MDI Medical team understands that therapists have a broad number of rehab jobs and comapnies to choose from - it is a real testament to our team that we are committed to supporting our therapists throughout their assignment.

If you're considering a traveling rehab job, please talk to one of our recruiters and let us show you how we can help you get the support you deserve.

We’re seeing an increased demand in our facilities wanting to fill their rehab jobs earlier than usual.  These have always existed in the more rural locations where it’s harder to attract travelers, but we are seeing a growing interest in our clients to book therapists in  metropolitan areas, including Chicago, IL; Atlanta, GA, Baltimore, MD; and FL to name a few.

MDI Medical is working with our client facilities to understand their therapy travel needs in advance so we can offer our therapists a broader selection of assignments in the areas where they want to be.  In this competitive market for the good travel assignments, these jobs are filling quickly. Be sure to let your MDI Medical recruiter where you want to be next if you know in advance.

As everyone knows I am a huge sports fan and I heard some sad news today in the world of the NFL. One of my favorite players Shawne Merriman is out for the year due to him tearing both posterior cruciate and lateral collateral ligaments. It sounds like surgery is going to have to repair the knee and it will be months of physical therapy to rehab it back to health. For the Physical Therapists that read this blog' please comment on this type of injury for me and please let me know how likely it is for a player to fully recover from such an injury. On a brighter note I would like to tell everyone about the wonderful cities were have Allied Health Jobs for Physical Therapists and Occupational Therapists so you can watch your favorite teams up-close. Baltimore Raven fans I currently have a 13 week Physical Therapy job in Baltimore, MD that can't be beat. If you’re interested please respond fast because the Ravens are looking pretty decent in pre season and I wouldn't want you to miss them this year. If the crabs in Baltimore are not your thing I have a 13 week travel job in the windy city of Chicago, IL for all you Bears fans. Brand new quarterback in the fold this year so it seems like some good news will be coming out of Solider Field. Book your assignment fast I would hate for you to miss the games with the deep dish pizza. Of course I have to put this job out here for the most dedicated fans in the NFL I currently have a Occupational Therapy travel assignment just outside of Philadelphia, PA. Donavan MacNabb is back and at full strength and looked great in the preseason so for the Eagles fan out there who wants to get to some games this year I have the job for you. Any therapists out that wants to talk sports or interested in specific sports cities please comment on my blog' or give me call at 770-416-2312.

Football fans it is that time of year again to root for your favorite teams on Saturday's and find great Allied Health Jobs. The fall is the best time of year to be an Allied Health traveler because you can take assignments in cities of your favorite teams to go watch the games and take place in the festivities. If you’re a Physical Therapist or an Occupational Therapist that has a favorite football team, we more then likely have a travel therapy job in their city. If you are a LSU Tiger fan I currently have a Physical Therapy assignment in Baton Rouge, LA for a 13 week assignment. There is nothing like watching SEC football and watching the Tigers make a run at winning the SEC title. If Cajun country isn't your thing, a few states east of Louisiana in South Carolina I currently have two Physical Therapy Jobs that are 13 week travel assignments for those University of South Carolina Gamecock fans. There is nothing like Saturday tailgating in Gamecock country in the cool Columbia, SC weather. I would personally prefer Columbia because I am a Gamecock fan but if that's not for you please checkout our website for an assignment that can get you closer to your favorite college team.

I know that unfortunately some of our travel therapists have ran into the issue of fingerprinting. You have been placed on an assignment, you're start date is in a week, and then you find out that you need to be fingerprinted. I know, I know...just another thing to do right?

Fingerprinting is a requirement by facilities in some states for travel therapy jobs. There are a few hospitals in states such as OH and PA that require fingerprinting. There are also Skilled Nursing Facilities in the following states that require fingerprinting: AZ, DE, FL, MO, NV, NM, OH, PA, SC, WA, WV, WI, PA and NC.

To help the process, what you as a travel therapist can do is talk to your recruiter about the states you're looking for therapist jobs and find out what some of their requirements are. This can help to alleviate some of the last minute running around that we encounter. What we at MDI Medical are committed to doing is communicating with each other to ensure that our therapists are made aware of all the credentialing requirements before it's too late.

Credentialing thanks you for your cooperation!

JCAHO released their 2009 National Patient Safety Goals. How do they relate to your OT jobs, PT jobs, and SLP jobs? Read about them here. I'd love to hear what you think.

Something about being an outpatient orthopedic physical therapist in the Windy City just creates thoughts of a great time in a beautiful city during the best season.

Now, if you happen to agree with anything in that first paragraph, keep reading!  Right now, MDI Medical has large number of outpatient physical therapist needs in Chicago, Illinois.  Don’t worry; we also have needs for speech language pathologists and pediatric occupational therapists as well.  If you haven’t been to Chicago, you are missing out on a great time and some great people. Think about it, the Cubs haven’t won in how long and the fans are still loyal…Chicago is full of great people!  If big city living is not your gig, worry not, we have positions in the suburbs as well.

If you want to find out more about these therapy jobs, call me 1.888.416.7949 xt. 2339

Thanks,
RJ
